This policy explains what cookies xF4F uses, why we use them, and your options for managing them.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help websites remember information about your visit, like your login status.
2. Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
xf4f_session | Keeps you signed in after X OAuth authentication | 7 days | Essential |
ref | Stores referral code so the referring user gets credit when you sign up | 7 days | Functional |
3. Essential Cookies
The xf4f_session cookie is essential for the Service to function. It contains an encrypted session token (JWT) and is required to access authenticated pages. Without it, you would need to sign in on every page load.
4. Functional Cookies
The ref cookie is set when you visit xF4F through a referral link. It ensures the referring user receives credit when you create an account. This cookie is not required for the Service to function.
5. Third-Party Cookies
xF4F does not use any third-party cookies. We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or social media tracking pixels.
6. Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage for non-sensitive preferences:
welcome_seen— Tracks whether you have seen the onboarding modalonboarding_dismissed— Tracks whether you dismissed the getting started checklist
These values stay on your device and are never sent to our servers.
7. Managing Cookies
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking the xf4f_session cookie will prevent you from using the Service while signed in.
